Dogboy's Dog Ranch is Central Texas' first All Spayed and Neutered boarding facility.
All of us at DogBoy's Dog Ranch believe it is our responsibility to do what we can to help stop pet overpopulation in Central Texas. The simple truth is we see TOO MANY innocent dogs hit by cars or euthanized because people aren't doing the right thing by spaying or neutering their animals. (To clarify, we are not necessarily against breeding, we just think many people breed their dogs for the wrong reasons.) Our desire to do even more to tackle this problem led us to found a new organization, S.N.I.P. -- find out more by clicking here.
So what does this mean for you and your dogs? Well if you want to board with us, it means this:
- All dogs over the age of six months must be spayed or neutered to board here.
- Our only exceptions to the policy are pedigreed dogs who are either working or active in show, titled but retired show dogs, or dogs with a doctor's note stating that sedation for spay or neuter would be life-threatening to the animal (i.e. heart defect, epilepsy, etc.).
- Show dog means that he/she is an active show dog with a working plan towards a Grand Champion title. The dog's show plan would be required, any completed legs towards the title, and registration to the shows according to the dog's plan. We also require documentation from a professional on the dog's quality of breeding that says he/she is mentally and physically qualified for breeding and documentation on why you plan to breed him. Sounds like a lot of trouble. We think it's worth it.
We are happy to have the support of all the local animal shelters and rescue groups who think this is a step in the right direction! Please don't hesitate to call the office or email us if you have questions regarding this policy.
